American Defense

American Defense ranked #89 of 323 brands on GunPartPicker in September 2026, just behind ABC Rifle Company, with about 1 in every 1000 parts builders added. Down from #71 in August. Builders reached for American Defense mostly for lower receiver parts. The most added single part was the American Defense Manufacturing AR-15 Uic Stripped Lower Receiver Ambidextrous, taking the top spot from the American Defense UIC Billet Lower Receiver - Ambidextrous.

Optic mounts were the busiest American Defense category in September: 93 products came back in stock, several more than once. Demand for lower receivers slipped about 47% on August. About 37% of the 572 American Defense products we track are in stock today.

Why American Defense

American Defense Manufacturing, or ADM, has built parts in New Berlin, Wisconsin since 2007. It's known for quick detach optic mounts and fully ambidextrous AR-15 and AR-10 rifles.

The mounts come first. The QD Auto Lock lever lets an AD-RECON or Scout mount come off fast and go back on holding zero, even on out of spec Picatinny rails. They're machined aluminum with a Type III hardcoat anodize.

ADM also sells its ambidextrous lowers on their own, with controls on both sides, built in the USA.

Those lowers cost more than the typical one: about $385 against roughly $215. You're paying for the ambi controls built in rather than added later.

We'd buy an ADM QD mount if you move an optic between rifles. The lower makes sense for lefties or anyone who wants ambi controls from the start.
