About Cor-bon

Cor-Bon loads hot defensive ammo and the all copper DPX line.

Founded 1982, Grafton, Ohio · Defensive ammo · DPX all copper · .400 Cor-Bon

Why Cor-bon

Cor-Bon was founded in Detroit in 1982 by Peter Pi Sr., who thought the handgun ammo of the day didn't perform. It went through bankruptcy in 2017, changed hands twice, and is now based in Grafton, Ohio.

DPX is the load to know. It's an all copper bullet built to penetrate deep and expand the same way every time, even through barriers, and it comes in handgun calibers from .380 to 10mm and rifle rounds like .223 and .300 Blackout.

The rest of the line covers JHP self defense loads, Urban Response, Glaser Safety Slug and Pow'RBall, plus hunting rounds. Cor-Bon also helped create the .32 NAA and the .400 Cor-Bon, a necked down .45 ACP.

Several of the defensive loads are +P. That means more recoil and more wear on small guns, so check your pistol is rated for +P before you carry it.

We'd look at DPX for carry or hunting if your gun feeds it well. Shoot a box first, since all copper bullets can feed differently than lead core hollow points.

  • DPX uses an all copper bullet made to penetrate deep and expand consistently through barriers.
  • Cor-Bon helped create the .32 NAA and .400 Cor-Bon cartridges.
