Why Odin Works

ODIN Works is a Boise, Idaho shop that Tom Hines started around 2012. It makes almost everything it sells in house on its own machines, and triggers are the one big exception.

The XMR extended mag release is the part people know. It's billet 6061 aluminum, weighs about a tenth of an ounce, and works with KNS anti-rotation pins and the Magpul BAD lever. The XMR 3 has the biggest pad and fits AR-15 and AR-308 lowers.

The rest of the line is built around the barrel: 416R stainless, button rifled, hand lapped barrels with a 1 MOA guarantee, an adjustable gas block with 20 clicks, and the O2 Lite handguard, where a 15.5 inch rail weighs 9.7 ounces with hardware.

ODIN's mag release is the fifth most added in its slot, in about 4% of builds that have one. At around $21 to $23 it costs a few dollars more than a plain button.

The common complaint is feel. The paddle has some play, and a few owners call it sloppy or say the XMR 3 edges are sharp. It can also crowd an extended bolt release, so check your controls fit together.

Warranty is simple: ODIN repairs or replaces a defective part free for the life of the part. In early October about 59% of its listings across stores were in stock.
