About Criterion Barrels

Criterion makes button rifled AR-15 and AR-10 barrels with match grade accuracy in mind, priced close to entry level barrels.

Why Criterion Barrels

Criterion makes button rifled AR-15 and AR-10 barrels in Germantown, Wisconsin. Its rifling process was developed with John Krieger, the custom barrel name, with the goal of match accuracy at a production price.

The pitch is accuracy without a custom barrel bill. Criterion barrels were standard on Fulton Armory rifles for years, and they've long been sold at prices close to entry level or select barrels from other makers.

In practice they sell above the typical barrel, about $315 against roughly $200, and about 5% of barrels added to builds here are Criterion. That's a solid share for a barrel with no budget version.

You're paying around $100 more than a basic barrel, and the gain only shows if the rest of the rifle and your ammo can use it.

We'd put a Criterion on a precision or DMR style build where groups matter. On a plinker, a cheaper barrel does the job.
