Why Sylvan Arms
Sylvan Arms is a small South Carolina maker with about 15 people. It's mostly known for AR folding stock adapters, and it also makes suppressors, Glock pattern slides, an FRT style trigger and QD mounts.
The SA5 Pro adapter is machined in the USA from 4140 steel, weighs 9.4 oz and adds about 1.5 inches. It folds left or right, has adjustable hinge tension and two QD points, and ships with a bolt extension so a standard carrier works without extra parts.
The rest of the catalog includes 9mm magazine adapters for Glock and P320 mags at about $120, QD rail and sling mounts, and the SADRT forced reset style trigger at $199.99.
It's the third most added stock adapter, in about 7% of builds with one. The usual price paid is about $126, a bit under the typical adapter at roughly $135, though the SA5 Pro lists at $214.99.
The trade-off is length and weight. Steel makes it strong but puts 9.4 oz at the back of the gun, and the extra inch and a half pushes your stock out. It won't fit Tippmann 22, LWRC or Extar EP9 guns.
We'd buy it for a short AR you want to fit in a pack or behind a truck seat, where folded length matters more than the added inch and a half.
