Why Blackout Defense
Blackout Defense now goes by Blackout Dynamics. The shop came out of aerospace machining, with past work for Boeing, Raytheon and Honeywell, and it runs new DMG Mori machines in a 20,000 square foot climate controlled factory.
The Quantum DTL-X rifle is the flagship, built around its own Dual Taper Lock system. Custom rifles start around $2,355 in .223 Wylde or .300 BLK and $2,595 in 6mm ARC, and a complete upper runs about $1,306.
Helix barrels have gas regulation built in, in .223 Wylde or .300 BLK. It also makes triggers, charging handles, the OneX riser for Aimpoint Micro footprint dots in 1.93 and 2.3 inch heights, and Arca-Swiss plates.
Its charging handles run about $100 against roughly $90 for the typical one. In early October only about 9% of its listings across stores were in stock.
So you pay more and often wait. This is also the last year to fully customize a DTL-X before some options cost extra.
We'd buy the charging handle or the riser to try the machining before spending rifle money.
