Why Bootleg
Bootleg started in 2013 as a sister company to Primary Weapons Systems. Since 2020 it's been owned by Becca and Andrew Pike, an 82nd Airborne veteran wounded in Iraq.
The adjustable bolt carrier is the product to know. It was the first AR-15 carrier you can adjust right through the ejection port, so you tune gas for unsuppressed shooting or cut the extra gas when you run a can.
The rest of the line covers CamLok handguards, mil-spec carriers, forged 7075 uppers, lowers, charging handles, flash hiders and an AR-10 bolt completion kit.
Its carriers run about $200, right at the typical bolt carrier price, and its gas tubes about $14 against $16.
An adjustable carrier is one more thing to set up, and you'll want to tune it for your ammo and can. Orders come with a 30 day return window.
We'd buy the adjustable carrier if you shoot suppressed on a direct impingement AR. It's a simpler fix than swapping in an adjustable gas block.
- The Bootleg adjustable bolt carrier was the first AR-15 carrier you can adjust right through the ejection port.
