About Desert Tech

Desert Tech makes bullpup rifles like the SRS sniper rifle and the MDR, plus the Quattro-15 AR lower.

Founded 2007, West Valley City, Utah · Bullpup rifles · Multi caliber · Quick change barrels

Why Desert Tech

Desert Tech started in 2007 as Desert Tactical Arms in West Valley City, Utah, and it's known for bullpups. Putting the action behind the grip makes a rifle much shorter for the same barrel length.

The SRS is the one that made the name. It's a bolt action bullpup about 11 inches shorter than a normal sniper rifle with the same barrel, and the barrels swap fast so you can change calibers without a teardown. The SRS-A2 covers 6.5 CM, .308 and .338 Lapua.

The rest of the line includes the HTI in big calibers like .50 BMG, the WLVRN, and the Quattro-15 AR lower. The MDR semi auto bullpup was discontinued in 2024. Desert Tech also makes suppressors and ammo.

Bullpups are their own world. Triggers, ergonomics and parts don't match an AR.

We'd look at an SRS if you want a short precision rifle with real caliber swaps. If you want a semi auto, the MDR is gone, so check what's still supported.

  • The SRS is a bolt action bullpup, about 11 inches shorter than a normal sniper rifle with the same barrel length.
  • SRS barrels swap quickly, so you change calibers without a full teardown.
