Why DPMS

DPMS started in 1985 as a Minnesota machine shop making military rifle parts, and became one of the old AR-15 and AR-10 names. It went through the Freedom Group and Remington years, was bought out of Remington's bankruptcy in 2020, and is now in West Columbia, South Carolina.

The LR-308 is its big legacy. Its LR-308 rifles won Golden Bullseye Rifle of the Year awards in 2005 and 2006.

The current line is the DP-15 and DR-15 in 5.56 NATO at about $800, a DR-15 in .350 Legend, the DP-10, 9mm ARs, AR pistols and the Anvil AK at about $1,100. Uppers, lowers and build kits sell separately.

The DPMS you buy now comes from a new owner, so don't buy on old reputation either way. Check what's included and how the warranty works.

We'd look at a DR-15 if it's priced under the usual budget ARs. For a .308 build, DPMS pattern parts are the safe standard to plan around.
