Why Troy Industries
Troy was founded in 2003 by Steve Troy Jr. and grew into a big supplier of OEM accessories, with parts on Colt and Smith & Wesson rifles. In 2021 it started moving from Massachusetts to Clarksville, Tennessee, where it builds everything now.
BattleSights are what most people buy. The folding rear is 6061-T6 aluminum with a stainless cross locking system that holds it upright under recoil, half MOA windage clicks and standard AR height when it flips up. Each sight runs around $135.
The rest of the line has moved toward complete guns. The T1 is a 5.56 rifle with a 4150 CV barrel, 1:7 twist, mid-length gas and an ambi charging handle that vents gas away from your face, in 11.5 or 14.5 inch barrels for $2,600. There are also Alpha Rail handguards, Patrol rifles and suppressors.
Troy iron sights cost about $243 a set against roughly $49 for the typical sight, so you're paying for the name and the lockup. They're still the third most added front sight, in about 9% of builds that have one.
Price is the trade-off. A cheap flip-up sight does the same job at the range, and at least one owner had a rear that still wobbled after a trip back to Troy. One small design quirk: the rear won't fold down if the smaller aperture is up.
We'd put a Troy BattleSight pair on a rifle you'd actually rely on. Start with the rear sight, since that's where the lockup matters most.
