Got this Hogue for a new 5.56 build with a mid-length gas system. The rubber texture is definitely a step up from slick polymer, provides great purchase even in gloves. Adjusts smoothly and locks solid on my commercial tube. My only ding is it feels a bit chunky compared to some other minimalist stocks I have. Still, for the enhanced grip and comfort, its a minor trade-off.
Honestly, I was skeptical about a rubber stock, most of my stuff is typical polymer. But this Hogue buttstock completely changed my mind. The FDE color looks great with my aero precision lower, and the overmolding is fantastic. No more slipping on the shoulder, especially when wearing a plate carrier. It locks up tight on my commercial buffer tube, zero wobble. Super comfortable for long range days. Definitely my new go-to for builds.
