About Barrett
Barrett makes the M82 and M107 .50 BMG rifles, plus the MRAD, REC7 AR uppers, ammo and suppressors.
Founded 1982, Christiana, Tennessee, Made in USA · .50 BMG · Military issue · AR uppers
Why Barrett
Ronnie Barrett started the company in 1982 in Christiana, Tennessee, to build a semi auto rifle in .50 BMG. That rifle became the M82, and the military version is the M107. Australian defense firm NIOA bought Barrett in January 2023.
The bolt guns came next: the M95, M99, the .338 Lapua M98B and the modular MRAD. In 2021 the Army gave Barrett a $49.9 million contract for the Mk22 Precision Sniper Rifle, its version of the MRAD.
On the AR side there are the REC7 and REC10 rifles, plus ammo and suppressors that show up here as their own parts.
Barrett suppressors cost far more than the typical can, and stock is thin. In early October only about 25% of its listings across stores were in stock.
We'd buy Barrett for a .50 or an MRAD. For a 5.56 can, you can spend a lot less and do fine.
- The REC7 is Barrett's AR-15 upper, sold alongside its MRAD and M98B rifles.
