Why Cloud Defensive
Cloud Defensive machines its weapon lights in house in the US, from billet aluminum, and puts them through full auto live fire and drop testing. The company's view is that a usable beam beats a big lumen number.
The REIN 3.0 Micro is a good example. It puts out 1,000 lumens and 95,000 candela, weighs 5.41 ounces at 4.88 inches long, takes an 18350 or CR123A, and comes with a remote switch, rechargeable battery and M-LOK mount for about $389.
The body is three pieces of hard coat anodized aluminum you can service in the field. A patented Battery Jack stops the battery shifting under recoil, and the tailcap still works if the remote switch dies. The OWL is the other main light.
That's a lot of money next to a basic rail light, and the REIN only runs about 40 minutes. Carry a spare battery if it's on a working gun.
We'd put a REIN on a duty or home defense carbine where a light failing isn't an option. For a range toy, it's more than you need.
- The REIN 3.0 Micro body is three pieces of hard coat anodized 6061-T6 aluminum, and you can service it in the field.
