Why Primary Arms
Primary Arms is a Houston store that also designs its own optics line, Primary Arms Optics. Every Primary Arms optic gets inspected in house in Houston, and every PA optic, mount and accessory sold since 2021 has a lifetime warranty.
The ACSS reticles are why people buy one. They turn holdover into simple aiming points. The SLx 1-6x24 Gen IV is the core scope: a 30mm tube, 17.9 ounces, a CR2032 battery and 11 illumination settings for about $350.
The line runs in tiers: Classic, SLx, GLx and PLx. The SLx 1X MicroPrism is a 5.5 ounce etched reticle prism on an H1 and T1 footprint, the SLx 3X MicroPrism sells around $319, and the PLxC 1-8x is made in Japan.
Its rifle scopes are the fifth most added, at about $350 against roughly $400. Red dots and prisms sit at about $300 against roughly $485. Rifles wearing one are built on Aero receivers about 40% of the time.
The trade-off is the jump between tiers. The SLx is where the price is easy, but the Japanese glass in the PLxC 1-8x costs about $1,750. Some reticle and color combinations are also hard to find in stock.
We'd start with the SLx 1-6x24 for a general purpose AR, or the SLx 1X MicroPrism if you want an etched reticle that works with the battery dead.
