Why Vltor
VLTOR started in Idaho in 2000 and now builds in Tucson, Arizona. Everything is made in the USA, and the shop holds manufacturer and SOT licenses.
Its signature part is the A5 buffer system, which gives a carbine stock the smoother recoil of a rifle length system. Combo kits with the IMOD or EMOD stock run about $257 and $283.
The MUR is a monolithic upper with an integral top rail. The CASV handguard has been fielded by Navy EOD, and newer rails like the 12 inch Freedom Rail add direct ARCA. VLTOR also sells the SGR stripped lower at about $220.
We'd buy the A5 kit if your carbine feels harsh or you shoot suppressed, since it's the part the brand is built around.
