Why WMD Guns

WMD Guns is a Stuart, Florida shop known mostly for NiB-X, its nickel boron coating. The idea is simple: a slick, hard surface that fouling and grit can't grab, so parts wipe clean instead of needing a scrub.

The coating shows up on its bolt carrier groups, sold as full auto profile carriers in polished NiB-X, and on its charging handles, machined from 6061-T6 billet with an extended latch. There are .308 versions of both, plus NiB-X barrel extensions.

Its other finish is NitroMet, a salt bath nitride used on barrels and on gas tubes in carbine, mid and rifle lengths. WMD also builds Beast AR rifles, Big Beast .308 rifles, AK and 9mm rifles, and Glock 19 slides and barrels.

The gas tube is where WMD shows up most. It's the most added gas tube, in about 35% of builds that have one, at about $14 against roughly $16. WMD parts also turn up next to Aero receivers far more often than most brands, in about 59% of builds.

Buying direct is the hassle. In early October the WMD site wasn't taking online orders and asked you to call instead, with free shipping on phone orders. Most people will find the gas tubes at a regular store, where about half its listings were in stock.

We'd grab a WMD NitroMet gas tube when you're building a gas system, since it costs about the same as a plain one. The NiB-X carrier is worth a look if easy cleanup matters to you.
