Phase 5 Weapon Systems

Overview

The Phase 5 Version 2 Extended Bolt Release (EBRV2) is designed to enhance the functionality of your AR-15 by providing an extended surface area for easier access during bolt manipulation. This extended design allows for more intuitive operation, especially in high-stress situations, making it easier to lock the bolt back or release it without shifting your grip. You'll often find this component in builds utilizing a mid-length gas system chambered in 5.56 NATO, where quick and efficient handling is essential.

August 2026 on GunPartPicker

Phase 5 Version 2 Extended Bolt Release, 2.15" - EBRV2 was the fourth most added bolt catch on GunPartPicker in August 2026, behind the CMMG AR-15 Bolt Catch, with about 7% of all bolt catches added to builds. Down from #3 in May, June and July. Builds with this bolt catch are mostly chambered in 5.56 NATO (78%), split between mid-length (40%) and carbine-length (27%) gas systems, and mostly AR-15 (92%).

Availability is good: it was in stock at one retailer or another nearly every day in August 2026, and today all 4 retailers we track have it in stock. It dipped to $46.45 at Optics Planet for a stretch in August 2026, well under its usual $60.99, so sales do come around. Buying today, the lowest price is $59.99 at Brownells, above August's low of $46.45, so a better deal may come back.

Phase 5 EBRV2 price
Reviewed on April 26, 2026Verified with Build

Phase 5 EBRV2 extended bolt release at 2.15 inches works as advertised. Larger paddle for fast empty lockback. Price is a touch steep for an extended bolt release - similar products from other brands run less. Function is reliable.

Phase 5 EBRV2 wanted
Reviewed on April 11, 2026Verified with Build

Phase 5 EBRV2 extended bolt release at 2.15 inches is exactly what I wanted for fast empty mag lockback. The extended paddle is easy to slap with the trigger finger or support thumb. Drop in fitment with the standard catch spring.

EBR upgrade
Reviewed on April 7, 2026Verified with Build

paddle profile sticks out just enough to thumb under load but not so much that a sling clamps it. install was the standard bolt catch swap, took 4 min. spring tension is correct, holds bolt back on empty magazines
