Why Dead Air Armament

Dead Air started in 2014, founded by two SilencerCo veterans, and it builds its cans around mounts you can share. The Key-Mo adapter even lets Dead Air muzzle devices carry SilencerCo suppressors.

The Sandman is the can most people know. The new Sandman X is 3D printed from Haynes 282, an alloy used in rocket engines, and runs 6.4 inches and 14.5 ounces on the Xeno mount or 6.9 inches and 16.8 ounces on Key-Mo. It's rated up to .300 RUM and for full auto.

The Sandman L is the long, quieter 8.9 inch version. The Nomad covers .30 caliber rifles, the Wolverine and Odessa-9 handle pistols, the Primal is a multi caliber can and the Mask HD is for rimfire. Front caps swap between the Sandman, Wolverine, Nomad, Wolfman and Primal.

Dead Air is the most added suppressor brand, in 28% of builds that have a can. A typical Dead Air can goes for about $890 against roughly $900 for the slot, so you're paying the going rate, not a markup.

Price is still the hurdle. A Sandman X lists at $999 to $1,149 depending on the mount. Its low back pressure can also leave a rifle tuned for a gassier can short stroking, so plan to retune the gas before you trust it.

The $200 tax on suppressors went to $0 on January 1, 2026, and since October 9, 2026 ATF no longer enforces the Form 4 approval and registration requirement, so the can is now the only cost and the dealer's background check is the only wait. That's an enforcement policy, not a change to the law, and your state's rules still decide whether you can own one. The Sandman S is discontinued and the X replaces it.
