Why B5 Systems

B5 Systems is an Ohio company, founded in 2008, that has made the SOPMOD stock for the Department of Defense since 2011. It also supplies furniture to more than 70 gun makers, so you may already own a B5 part without knowing it.

The Bravo stock is the one most people buy. It weighs 9.3 oz, fits mil-spec carbine tubes, has steel QD sling mounts and runs slimmer than the SOPMOD. The Army added it to its Additional Authorized List for the M4 and M4A1 in 2024.

The P-Grip 22 and 23 both sit at a steeper 13 degree angle. The 23 has a beavertail for forged mil-spec lowers, and the 22 drops it for billet lowers or people who don't like one. The line also covers the Enhanced SOPMOD, the Collapsible Precision Stock and M-LOK handguards.

The small parts cost a little less than the typical part: about $15 for a grip against roughly $20, and $12 for a trigger guard against $15. Both are the second most added in their slots, with the trigger guard in 27% of builds that have one and the grip in 21%.

The common complaint is a little wobble. Some Bravo owners find it wobbles a little on a mil spec tube, and a few strips of tape usually fix it. It also costs more than the typical stock, about $63 against roughly $53.

After years of mostly OEM and military work, B5 began pushing sales straight to shoppers in 2024, so its parts are easy to find at the big AR stores and on its own site.

We'd start with the P-Grip 23 and a trigger guard, which cost less than average. Add the Bravo if you want a military pattern stock and don't mind a shim.

  • The B5 Bravo stock fits mil-spec carbine tubes and uses steel hardware and steel anti-rotation QD sling mounts.
  • B5 has made the SOPMOD stock for the US Department of Defense since 2011.
  • The Enhanced SOPMOD keeps the Crane designed shape and adds two water resistant storage compartments.
  • The Army added the Bravo stock to its Additional Authorized List for the M4 and M4A1 in 2024.
