L3, now L3Harris after its 2019 merger with Harris, is a defense contractor. Shooters see the name on military aiming lasers like the ATPIAL.
L3 bought Insight Technology in 2010, the New Hampshire maker of night vision and weapon mounted lasers. It also owned EOTech and settled for $25.6 million over sights that drifted in heat and humidity.
These lasers make up about 4% of laser adds. Finding one is the catch: in early October none of its listings across stores were in stock, and some models are law enforcement only.
We'd only chase one if you know the exact model and can buy it legally. Otherwise, a civilian IR laser is easier to get.
