Overview
The Strike Industries AR Forward Assist with Hex Design is a complete assembly designed to ensure reliable functionality in your AR-15 platform. Made from steel, this standard-style forward assist allows builders to easily chamber a round or clear a malfunction, enhancing the overall performance of the firearm. It's commonly found in builds featuring a carbine gas system chambered in 5.56 NATO, making it a practical choice for those looking to maintain a robust and effective setup.
Strike Industries AR Forward Assist With Hex Design Black was the third most added forward assist on GunPartPicker in August 2026, behind the CMMG AR-15 Forward Assist KIT, with about 12% of all forward assists added to builds. That's its 4th straight month at #3. Builds with this forward assist are mostly chambered in 5.56 NATO (63%, then .223 Wylde 13%), split between carbine-length (42%) and mid-length (33%) gas systems, and mostly AR-15 (80%, then AR-10 20%).
Availability is good: it was in stock at one retailer or another nearly every day in August 2026, and today 7 of the 8 retailers we track have it in stock. It dipped to $17.89 at Optics Planet for a stretch in August 2026, well under its usual $19.95, so sales do come around. Buying today, the lowest price is $19.95 at Brownells, above August's low of $17.89, so a better deal may come back.

Strike Industries forward assist with hex design works correctly. The hex pattern on the body is a unique visual touch. Price is a little steep for a forward assist but the styling differentiates it from milspec. Standard install with the roll pin.
bought this for a SI themed build, the hex texture matches their other parts. detent spring tension is correct, button presses with confidence. cheap upgrade over the mil spec round button
hex pattern on the button gives positive thumb purchase, especially with gloves. install was the usual roll pin and spring assembly, took 2 min with proper punches. black anodize is consistent
