Aimpoint ranked #64 of 323 brands on GunPartPicker in September 2026, just behind Viridian, with about 1 in every 333 parts builders added. Down from #57 in August. Builders reached for Aimpoint mostly for optic parts. The most added single part was the CompM5 2 MOA Red Dot Reflex Sight W/Spacer & LRP Mount Black, on top again this month.

Optics were the busiest Aimpoint category in September: 23 products came back in stock, and demand for them fell about 20% on August. About 35% of the 151 Aimpoint products we track are in stock today.

Why Aimpoint

Aimpoint is the Swedish company that brought out its first red dot sight in 1975. Its CompM2 became the US Army's M68 Close Combat Optic in 1997, and that long military record is most of what you pay for.

The Micro T-2 is the one most ARs wear. It's a 2 MOA dot with a night vision setting, and one battery runs 50,000 hours left on, more than five years. Its base pattern, the Micro footprint, is the one many other dots and mounts copy.

The CompM4 is the larger tube sight the Army bought in 2009. The Duty RDS MR came out in August 2025 at $650, with a switchable 2 MOA dot and 65 MOA circle and a three year battery, and the ACRO P-2 now comes in a 9 MOA version for shotguns.

An Aimpoint costs about $800 against roughly $485 for the typical optic. It's the fifth most added optic, in about 5% of builds that have one.

Price is the complaint, and it's fair. A Holosun with more reticles and solar backup costs well under half as much, and plenty of them hold up to hard use. The extra money buys a longer military track record, not more features.

The 2025 news was the COA, a pistol dot built with Glock around its new A-CUT slide interface. Finding a rifle dot is the bigger issue: in early October only about 27% of Aimpoint listings across stores were in stock.

We'd buy an Aimpoint for a duty or home defense rifle where the dot has to work every time. Start with the Micro T-2 if a store has one.
