DD 14.5 CHF in mid length gas with government contour is the right balance for a duty style carbine. Profile gives enough weight for sustained fire without being too heavy. CHF process makes the bore stand up to high round counts.

Second DD 14.5 CHF barrel Ive owned, both have shot consistently. Cold hammer forge process creates the tight bore that holds up to high round counts. Chamber polish is clean. The included gas block sits flat on the barrel shoulder. Mid length gas runs softer than carbine length.

Daniel Defenses 14.5 CHF mid length barrel has the chamber cut to spec, no burrs visible with a borescope. Headspace was right on with a Forster GO gauge. 1:7 twist stabilizes 77gr loads. Mid length gas system at 14.5 runs softer than carbine gas at the same length.

CHF barrel ran 500 rds before i bothered cleaning it. gas block is pinned at the factory so you dont have to mess with it. headspace measured to spec with my BCM BCG. mid-length softens recoil noticeably over a carbine 14.5

DD 14.5 CHF barrel needed 50-75 rounds before groups tightened up. Now consistently sub 2 MOA with 55gr ball, sub 1 MOA with 77gr SMK. Standard CHF break-in period seems to apply.

DDs 14.5 CHF barrel with the cold hammer forged process is what real duty rifles use. Mid length gas system at 14.5 is smoother than carbine. 1:7 twist handles heavy 77gr loads. Government contour is the right balance of weight and barrel life. Headspace was correct out of the box.
