Why Mission First Tactical

Mission First Tactical is a Pennsylvania company that molds its rifle furniture from DuPont polyamide in the US. Everything it sells carries a lifetime warranty, so the cheap parts aren't throwaway parts.

The Battlelink Minimalist stock is the part most people know. It weighs 5.8 ounces, has a QD sling point on both sides and an angled rubber buttpad, and comes in mil-spec and commercial tube sizes.

The rest of the line covers the small stuff: polymer flip up sights, all steel EXD sights with a fixed 300 meter zero, Extreme Duty magazines, trigger guards, charging handles and grips.

Its rear sights are the second most added in that slot, in about 11% of builds that have one. They sell for about $45 against roughly $57 for the typical rear sight.

The trade-off is the material. Polymer sights flex more than metal ones, and that's why MFT added the steel EXD set, at about $100 for the front and $125 for the rear. If your backup sight has to take real abuse, budget for steel.

Most of MFT's recent launches have been holsters and packs, like the ACHRO chest pack, so the rifle parts haven't changed much. Stock is fine: about two thirds of its listings across stores were in stock in early October.

We'd start with the polymer rear sight on a range or first build where weight and price matter more than toughness. For a duty rifle, we'd step up to the steel EXD pair.
