How to spray diamond on a Glock 17
1. Strip it down
Take the slide off the frame and pull the barrel and recoil spring. Paint the slide and the frame separately.
2. Degrease everything
Wipe every outside surface with acetone or isopropyl alcohol. Paint will not hold over gun oil.
3. Mask what moves
Tape the slide rails and the inside of the slide, the barrel hood, trigger and slide stop, and the magazine well so magazines still drop free.
4. Base coat in white
Two light coats over the whole gun, 8 to 12 inches away, 10 minutes apart.
5. Blue ocean breeze through a splinter stencil
Lay a splinter stencil sheet on the gun and spray blue ocean breeze through it.
6. True blue through a splinter stencil
Lay a splinter stencil sheet on the gun and spray true blue through it.
7. White specks
Flick small specks of white: a short burst from a foot away, or a stiff brush dipped in paint.
8. Let it cure
Handle it after an hour but give it a full day before it goes in a case, and a few days before hard use.
