SIG P385: Release Date, Price, Specs and Where to Buy

Nobody can ship you a P385 yet.

On October 12, 2026, SIG's site and every store that sends us a P385 listing still read coming soon, preorder or notify me. The CARRY is $599.99 at almost every store and the COMP is $749.99, but no store has a gun on the shelf.

Below: when it ships, where to order one, what each model costs, the specs SIG has now published, and what fits it.

When is the SIG P385 release date?

SIG announced the P385 at SIG NEXT on September 22, 2026. Dealers started taking orders within days, but deliveries haven't started. As of October 12, SIG's own product pages still mark the CARRY, COMP, FULL, COMPACT and MACH3D as coming soon.

The CARRY and COMP are first in line. Every store we track lists both, and Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore is taking preorders on them now. The FULL and COMPACT have product pages at SIG. Bauer Precision now lists both, and the MACH3D, out of stock. SIG's launch material put the MACH3D at the end of 2026.

Nobody on SIGtalk or AR15.com has reported a delivery through October 12. Dealer estimates run from late October to the end of the year. Luttrell Performance Shooting expects its first guns around October 23, and KYGUNCO told a SIGtalk member to expect guns in 60 to 90 days. SIG hasn't given a ship date.

Where to buy a P385

Four stores that send us their product feeds list the P385 today. None has one in stock, so a click gets you a preorder or a restock alert.

These four stores sit at the same street price. Nobody's discounting a gun they can't ship, but GrabAGun lists the CARRY at $649.99.

When the first P385 lands in stock, it'll show up on our product pages with every merchant side by side. Until then, a preorder at a store you trust is the fastest route. Your local SIG dealer may get an allocation before the online stores do. Frog Bones had one on the counter before SIG announced anything.

How much does the P385 cost?

The CARRY costs $599.99 at every store we checked, against a $679.99 MSRP printed on retailer listings. The COMP costs $749.99, and BattleHawk shows its MSRP as $829.99.

A manual thumb safety doesn't change the price. Neither does the 10 round version for Massachusetts and other capped states.

The optic bundles cost $500 more than the bare gun. SIG sells the ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO on its own for $579.99, so the bundle saves you about $80 if you were going to buy that sight anyway.

The five P385 models

The P385 is built around an all new fire control unit, designed for this platform rather than carried over from the P320 or the P365. SIG pairs it with the Trigger Block, a patented flush faced trigger, and drops it into a grip module that takes interchangeable MagStraps.

Controls are fully ambidextrous. Every model is 9mm, and SIG says no other calibers are planned "at this time."

The CARRY, COMP and FULL are 1.32 inches wide and the MACH3D is 1.45, and the weights include an empty magazine. The FULL's and MACH3D's numbers are new since our last update. SIG's COMPACT spec table contradicts its own 4 inch barrel and 15 round magazines, so we've left the COMPACT blank until SIG fixes it.

We had the MACH3D on a 3.4 inch barrel before. SIG's own page now says 4 inches in its feature list and 3.9 inches in its spec table, so we've gone with SIG's measured 3.9.

SIG also published the fit numbers people kept asking about. Trigger reach is about 2.9 inches. Grip circumference runs 1.95 inches with the small MagStrap, 2.15 with the medium and 2.25 with the large. The MagStrap also sets grip length, from the full 17 round grip down to a flush 15 round grip.

The FCU is the serialized part. Every model comes in black or coyote, with or without a manual thumb safety. SIG says state compliant versions are planned. Its own site already lists 10 round versions of every model and California versions of the COMPACT and MACH3D, and KYGUNCO lists 10 round Massachusetts compliant CARRY and COMP models.

SIG credits the low bore axis and its new Recoil Dampening System in the grip with cutting muzzle rise by 20% or more, depending on the model. It says the MACH3D comp takes that past 30%. Nobody independent has put a timer on either claim yet.

P385 vs P365 vs P320: how big is it?

The P385 is a P320 sized duty gun. If you were hoping for a bigger P365, look at the numbers first.

Against the P365-XMACRO, the CARRY is six tenths of an inch longer, almost half an inch taller and a fifth of an inch wider. It weighs 29 ounces to the XMACRO's 21.5. A Glock 19 is within a tenth of an inch of the CARRY's length, but it's six tenths of an inch shorter in height and five ounces lighter.

The FULL is a hair shorter than the original P320 Nitron Full Size, a little narrower, and the same weight within a tenth of an ounce. If you own a P320 and like it, the FULL is the one to handle. If you carry a P365 and want more gun, wait for the COMPACT's numbers.

What optics fit the P385?

Any RMR or DPP footprint optic mounts straight to the slide. SIG's P385 FAQ says the SIG-LOC PRO cut "provides direct-mount compatibility with popular optic footprints, including RMR and DPP, without requiring an additional adapter plate."

We told you something broader on September 24. We read a line on SIG's ROMEO-X page, that SIG-LOC slides still take "traditional top-mount reflex sights," and said any optic on a published footprint would go on. SIG has now named the footprints. For anything else, an ACRO, an EPS Carry or an MPS included, wait until SIG or the optic maker lists a plate.

The restriction also runs the other way. A ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO is built only for SIG-LOC PRO slides, so it won't move to a conventionally cut pistol you already own.

Schematic. SIG-LOC drives its fasteners up from under the slide. That geometry is what buys the five points of contact, and the slide still accepts a top mounted sight on the RMR or DPP footprint.

SIG-LOC buys you lockup. You get five points of contact between slide and optic instead of two screws through the top, a lower deck height, and a longer focal length that flattens parallax. You only get it with a SIG-LOC optic.

RMR and DPP optics that fit with no plate

If you'd rather keep the money, these three footprints SIG named go straight on. The Trijicon RMR and Holosun 507C use the RMR pattern, and the DeltaPoint Pro is the DPP.

What else fits the P385

Magazines

Standard P320 magazines work, and that's the cheapest reason to pick this gun over a clean sheet platform. If you run a P320, you've got a magazine stash on day one.

One catch. The oldest P320 magazines, the ones with a round base pad, won't seat with the P385's metal magwell in place. SIG's answer is to take the magwell off. On AR15.com, the advice is to swap the base plate instead.

Holsters

Your P320 holster won't fit. Neither will a P365 holster. SIG says so directly, and the P385's slide and frame are their own shape.

SIG names Safariland, ANR and BlackPoint among the first holster makers. Safariland lists the Incog X as available now and has the 6360RDS and 6390RDSO duty holsters, the Solis and a Ballast light bearing holster coming. Buy a retention holster last, once your exact model and light combination is listed.

Lights

A light clamps to an accessory rail, not to the model, so the P385's M1913 rail takes the lights already on the shelf.

Sights, magwells and barrels

SIG says P series dovetail iron sights fit, and so does the P320 AXG magwell. Every other part is specific to the P385. P320 barrels don't fit, according to a SIG trainer posting on AR15.com. SIG lists no threaded barrel. SilencerCo says the MACH3D's comp screws onto a 1/2x28 thread, and it expects threaded barrels in 2027.

What people who've shot it say

Nobody outside the industry owns one yet. The only people who've shot a P385 got a gun at SIG NEXT, at a SIG Experience Center, at a SIG demo day, or from a manufacturer. Here's what they reported.

The people who've fired it

The best firsthand report comes from nhracecraft on SIGforum, who lives near the SIG Experience Center. He went in on September 23, field stripped a CARRY and shot it. He said the break "feels similar to the P320 Legion" and called the reset very positive. In the hand he compared it to a P365 Legion, with a slide noticeably narrower than a P320's.

He also confirmed the modularity works the way SIG says. A FULL upper goes on a COMPACT grip, and so does the MACH3D upper. The CARRY and FULL grips won't take the 15 round COMPACT magazine.

Thomas Higginbotham at Safariland put a couple of hundred rounds through early guns. He put the trigger at about 7 pounds and said the MACH3D shot very flat. He thought the COMPACT handled more like an XMACRO.

A member of SIG's training team, dbaird, has been answering questions on AR15.com. Weigh it accordingly, since he works for SIG. He says SIG's academy instructors tested the guns through development and the grip went through more than 200 versions. He rates the trigger above every P365 he's shot.

What the forums keep saying

We read the P385 threads on SIGtalk, SIGforum, AR15.com, the 1911 Forum and CalGuns between September 22 and 26. SIGtalk's main thread passed 300 posts by October 3.

It's the P320 without the name. This comes up on every board, usually unkindly. One AR15.com member called it "the quiet replacement for the cursed 320." A lot of owners want a trade in program. Others point out that a trade in would hand plaintiffs an argument.

It's a bigger P365. Mike H in WA, who read the XRAY5 off the blurred teaser the week before, called it "an upscaled P365" on launch night. Several members who already own an XMACRO couldn't see a reason to buy one.

The price is fair. Almost nobody complained. $599 landed well below what the forums had guessed before launch.

The Trigger Block looks clever. Most posts on the flush trigger safety are curious or positive. The sharpest reply came from a SIGforum member pointing out that SIG once argued a trigger safety was unnecessary on the P320.

The case against it

The best skeptical post runs on the spec sheet. A SIGforum member worked out that the CARRY is no lighter than a P320 XCARRY and almost 6 ounces heavier than a Glock 45. His summary: "Pretty much the same gun without the proven track record."

Others want to see a second generation before they buy. Some won't buy SIG at all after the P320, including a SIGforum member with 15 years and 150,000 rounds on SIG duty guns. At a SIG demo day in Raleigh in early October, an AR15.com member said a plastic shelf under the slide release made it hard to lock the slide back. SilencerCo's writer rode that lever and dropped the slide twice at SIG NEXT.

Does the P385 replace the P320?

SIG answers this one in its own P385 FAQ. Asked whether it launched the P385 because of the P320's problems, SIG says no. It says the P385 "has been in development for years." It also says the P320, M17 and M18 stay on sale, and that the Trigger Block isn't coming to the P320 or P365 for now.

The context everyone reads into it is the litigation. SIG is still defending the P320's fire control design in court, and the P385 ships with an entirely new FCU and a trigger safety blade that sits flush in the shoe. SIG hasn't connected those two things in public.

How the leak did

We ran this page for a week on documents and dealer photographs before SIG said a word. We got the magazines right, and Mike H in WA read the XRAY5 off a blurred teaser. We called it a scaled up duty gun rather than a small carry pistol, and SIG's own hidden prelaunch text named the P385 as a SIG-LOC PRO host.

We got the optic question wrong twice: first by warning your optic wouldn't fit, then by saying any footprint would. SIG's FAQ now settles it at RMR and DPP. The retailer whiteboard said LAUNCH 9/24, and SIG revealed on the 22nd.

What's still unknown

A ship date. Prices for the FULL, the COMPACT and the MACH3D. Reliable dimensions for the COMPACT. A trigger pull weight. Which state compliant models arrive, and when. A threaded barrel. And whether any department adopts it.
