Glock Size Chart: Every Model's Length, Height, Width and Weight

Every pistol on Glock's US spec pages, drawn to scale by frame family, with a picker for the size that fits you and what crosses over between frames.

By GPP Editorial TeamUpdated /26 min read

A Glock 26 is 0.87 inches shorter in the grip than a Glock 19, but it's only 0.04 inches thinner. If you want a thinner Glock, you need the slimline frame.

A Glock 48 MOS matches a Glock 19 V's length and height to the hundredth of an inch. Glock lists it 0.24 inches thinner and 3.03 ounces lighter with an empty magazine. Every one of the 87 live fire pistols on Glock's US spec pages gets a row below.

Which Glock size should you buy?

Most of you will end up choosing between four sizes. The cards under each pick show live prices from the stores we track, so you can see what each one costs today.

Best all round: Glock 19

The 19 has a grip short enough to carry and long enough for most hands, and it's the Glock our builders add to builds more than any other.

What we like

  • Glock fits 15 rounds flush in a pistol that stands 5.04 inches tall and runs 7.28 inches long.
  • The Gen6 ships optic ready with its own plates, and Safariland's fit chart puts the 19, 19X and 45 in one holster fit.

Watch out for

  • At 1.35 inches wide, a Gen6 19 is as thick as a 17 to within 0.01 inches, so it won't carry any flatter than one.
  • Gen6 barrels don't swap with earlier generations, so check the generation before you buy parts.

Best slim carry: Glock 48 MOS

The 48 keeps a 19's slide and grip length and takes the width out. It's the only way to get a 19 sized Glock that carries flatter.

What we like

  • It matches a 19's 7.28 by 5.04 inch footprint at 1.10 inches wide.
  • Glock lists it 3.03 ounces lighter than a 19 V with an empty magazine.

Watch out for

  • It takes its own slimline magazines, and its spec page still lists 10 rounds even though Glock announced a 15 rounder in April 2026.
  • Its MOS cut uses a slimline footprint for Shield RMSc type optics, so double stack MOS plates won't carry over.

Best full grip: Glock 45

The 45 puts the 19's slide on the 17's grip, so a big hand gets a full grip on a gun that still fits a 19 holster.

What we like

  • You get 17 rounds flush, and at 5.47 inches tall it has the 17's full length grip for your pinky.
  • Its 6.85 inch slide matches the 19's, so the shorter slide rides in the same holsters.

Watch out for

  • The grip stands 0.43 inches taller than a 19's, and a tall grip is what most often gives a concealed gun away.

Best pocket size: Glock 43

The 43 is the smallest 9mm Glock makes, small enough for a pocket, and it pays for that in capacity.

What we like

  • It runs 6.26 inches long, 4.25 tall and 1.06 wide.
  • It weighs 17.99 ounces with an empty magazine, 5.64 less than a 19 V.

Watch out for

  • It holds 6 rounds, and its magazine fits the 43 alone.
  • Glock's spec page lists no accessory rail, so a weapon light is off the table.

(LE) marks a model whose Glock US spec page now sits in the law enforcement catalog. All of them but the 47 are on Glock's discontinued list, which distributors told Soldier Systems would stop shipping November 30, 2025. You'll still find new ones on shelves for a while.

We left the 17 V and 45 V out because Glock lists them 1.34 and 1.55 ounces lighter than their Gen5 twins with identical lengths, and nothing Glock has published explains why.

The G49, a TALO exclusive Gen5 MOS from November 2023, never got a Glock spec page, so it isn't here either. It's a different pistol from the Gen6 G49 that American Rifleman and Gun Digest reported for international markets.

All Glock models by size, smallest to largest

Here's Glock's current US catalog from smallest to largest by overall length. Length doesn't tell the whole story, so height and width sit beside it.

The 48 lands in the middle of that list, because it's a slimline gun with a 19's length and height and only its width is small.

Height tracks the grip, and Glock only makes a handful of grip lengths. The 26 stands 4.17 inches tall, while the 19, 43X and 48 all stand 5.04. The 17, 45 and 19X stand 5.47, and the large frame 20 and 21 stand 5.51.

Width barely moves across the double stack 9mm line. The 26 is 1.30 inches wide and a Gen6 19 is 1.35. Width only really drops on the slimline frame, down to 0.98 inches on the 42.

The picker lands on a size rather than a generation. A 19 is a 19 whether it's a Gen5, a V or a Gen6, as every drawing below shows.

How big is a Glock 19?

The Glock 19 is the reference for every drawing on this page. It's 7.28 inches long, 5.04 tall and 1.35 wide, and a Gen6 weighs 22.58 ounces with an empty magazine.

Glock builds four other calibers on nearly the same footprint: .40 S&W in the 23, .357 SIG in the 32, .45 GAP in the 38 and .22 LR in the 44. The Gen3 38 runs 0.08 inches longer, and the 23 stands a hair taller at 5.08 inches.

The .22 LR 44 matches the 19's length and height, runs 1.26 inches wide and weighs 14.64 ounces, 8.99 lighter than a 19 V.

Tap an outline to lay it over the 19. The drawings come from the same spec pages as the table, so every difference you see is one Glock publishes.

Our builders pick the 19 more than any other Glock by a wide margin, and agencies lean the same way. The FBI issues the 19M, and the Navy's special warfare units carry a 19 as the Mk27.

How big is a Glock 45 or 19X?

Put a 19's slide on a 17's grip and you get what Glock's own spec pages call a crossover. The 45 and 19X share a 6.85 inch slide with the 19, and they stand 5.47 inches tall like a 17.

Glock lists them at 7.44 inches overall, 0.16 longer than a 19, and the extra length is all frame. The 19X lists a little narrower at 1.30 inches and ships in coyote.

The 19X has one magazine quirk. It skips the flared magwell of the Gen5 guns, and RECOIL found at launch that Gen5 magazines wouldn't work in it. Run the magazines it ships with, or Gen4 ones.

How big is a Glock 17?

The 17 is the original Glock. A Gen6 runs 7.95 inches long and 5.47 tall with 17 rounds flush, and against a 19 it adds 0.47 inches of slide and 0.43 inches of grip with nothing in width.

The .40 caliber 22 shares the footprint, and the 47 is the odd one. Glock built it for Customs and Border Protection in 2019 as a full size slide on a 45 frame, with its shorter dust cover. Glock says it keeps parts compatibility with the 17, 19 and 45 Gen5 MOS.

Gen6 changed one number that matters to your hand: trigger reach on the 17, 19 and 45 dropped from 2.76 to 2.68 inches.

How small is a Glock 26?

The 26 runs 6.42 inches long and 4.17 tall. It has the shortest grip of any double stack 9mm Glock, and it ships with a 10 round magazine.

Every longer double stack 9mm Glock magazine fits it. Glock lists 12, 15, 17, 19, 24, 31 and 33 round magazines for the 26, so your spare can be a 15 or 17 rounder that fills out the grip.

Width is the catch. At 1.30 inches the 26 is barely thinner than a 19, so you're only saving grip length and 0.59 inches of slide.

The .40 caliber 27 and .357 SIG 33 share the 26's footprint, and the Gen3 .45 GAP 39 runs 0.08 inches longer. All three now sit in Glock's law enforcement catalog.

How small are the Glock 42, 43, 43X and 48?

The slimline frame earns its name in width. The 42 is 0.98 inches wide, the 43 1.06, and the 43X and 48 1.10, against 1.34 for a 19.

The 42 fires .380 ACP and weighs 13.76 ounces with an empty magazine, which makes it the lightest Glock in the table. The 43 is the smallest 9mm at 6.26 inches long and 4.25 tall, with 6 rounds.

Glock says the 43X and 48 share the same size frame, and it's as tall as a 19's. The 43X carries it under a 6.06 inch slide, and the 48 under the 19's 6.85 inch slide.

Capacity is changing. In April 2026 Glock announced a 15 round metal double stack magazine for the 43X and 48, due at dealers in May 2026, and said both pistols will come standard with it.

Glock hasn't given a date for the switch, and it says the new magazine keeps the standard catch. The spec pages still say 10, so our table does too. Shield Arms' S15 did the job first, and a dealer listing for it says you need Shield's steel magazine catch.

How long are the Glock 34, 35 and 17L?

Every 9mm and .40 long slide Glock rides on the 17's grip, and only the slide and barrel grow. The 10mm 40 and .45 41 are long slides too, on the large frame.

The 34 runs a 8.15 inch slide and a 5.31 inch barrel, 8.74 inches overall. The 17L stretches to a 8.86 inch slide and a 6.02 inch barrel, 9.45 overall.

Glock brought the 17L back as a Gen5 MOS in May 2024. Both it and the 34 are on the same discontinued list, and their spec pages now sit in Glock's law enforcement catalog.

The .40 caliber 35 and 24 follow the same pattern, and the Gen3 24 is the longest Glock in the table at 9.57 inches.

How big are the Glock 20, 21, 29 and 30?

10mm and .45 ACP need a bigger frame. The 20 and 21 V MOS run 8.07 inches long, 5.51 tall and 1.38 wide, and their 2.85 inch trigger reach is the longest of any double stack Glock.

Glock lists a 20 V MOS at 37.21 ounces with 15 rounds of 10mm aboard, and a loaded 19 V weighs 7.05 ounces less.

The 29 and 30 cut the large frame down to 6.93 inches long, with the 29 standing 4.53 tall and the 30 4.80. The 40 and 41 are the long slide versions, and the 10mm 40 weighs 35.45 ounces empty, the heaviest Glock in the table.

The single stack .45 36 is its own slim frame at 1.18 inches, and its 2.95 inch trigger reach is the longest Glock lists.

Magazines follow one rule within a caliber. Glock lists longer double stack magazines for the shorter grips, where they stick out the bottom. It doesn't list a shorter one for a longer grip, where it would sit up inside and be hard to grab.

Holsters follow the slide and dust cover. Safariland's fit chart puts the 19, 19X and 45 under one fit for that reason, and the 47 under the 17's.

Slides need to match the length, and the generation matters too. Gen6 barrels don't swap with earlier generations, and our Gen6 guide lists what carries over.

How much does a Glock weigh?

Glock lists three weights for every pistol: no magazine, an empty magazine and a loaded one. Its loaded figure counts a full magazine and nothing in the chamber.

MetricValue
No magazine21.34 oz
Empty magazine23.81 oz
Loaded, 15 in the magazine29.98 oz
Plus one chambered, a 507C and a TLR-7 X34.39 oz

A round in the chamber adds about 0.43 ounces, so run the numbers on your own carry setup before you trust any single loaded weight.

Glock's loaded figures don't always add up, either. Divide the gap between empty and loaded by the capacity, and most 9mm models land at 11.7 to 12.5 grams a round. The 45 Gen5 MOS comes out at 9.7 grams and the 17 Gen5 MOS at 14.1.

You can see the error in the table itself. Glock's 45 Gen5 gains 5.86 ounces from 17 rounds and its 19X Gen5 gains 6.56, with the same magazine and the same 17 rounds. We trust the empty magazine figure most, and every chart on this page uses it.

Accessories add more than people expect. A Holosun 507C X2 lists at 1.5 ounces and a Streamlight TLR-7 X at 2.48 with a CR123A.

Put both on a loaded 19 Gen5 MOS with one chambered and you're carrying about 34.39 ounces. That's our arithmetic from listed weights, so weigh your own rig if the number matters.

Does hand size change which Glock fits?

Yes, and Glock publishes the number that matters. Trigger distance is the reach from the back of the grip to the trigger, and it changes more between frames than most people expect.

The 42 measures 2.40 inches, the 43 2.56, and the 43X and 48 2.64. Gen6 17s, 19s and 45s measure 2.68, Gen5 and V double stacks 2.76, and the large frame 2.85.

The single stack .45 36 reaches furthest at 2.95. Gen5 frames also take interchangeable backstraps, so you can tune the grip a little. Hold the frame you're considering before you buy it if a store will let you.

Which Glock sizes do agencies issue?

Agencies sort by how the gun rides. The FBI issues the compact 19M, and Safariland describes the Navy's Mk27 as a Glock 19 and the general sidearm of Naval Special Warfare and SOCOM.

Customs and Border Protection ordered the 19, the 26 and the new 47 in April 2019, on a contract worth up to $85 million over 10 years.

Full size 17s show up where the gun rides openly on a belt. British forces carry the Gen4 17 as the L131A1, first issued in Afghanistan in January 2013.

If you'll carry concealed or all day, you're in the 19 and 26 crowd. Our Glock 17 vs 19 vs 45 guide has the full issued record, with dates.

Is a 43X or 48 easier to carry than a 19?

It's thinner, and that's the whole difference. The 43X and 48 stand 5.04 inches tall, the same as a 19, and only the width drops, from 1.34 to 1.10 inches.

Grip height matters more than width for most people, because it's what most often gives a gun away. PHLster, who make appendix holsters, say concealment gets much harder once the grip passes roughly 40% of your hip to hip width.

A 48 doesn't change that number. A 26, 43 or 42 does, because each one shortens the grip. Reviewers still split the two jobs: Pew Pew Tactical's best Glock list makes the 19 its editor's pick and lists the 43X MOS for concealed carry.

What do our builders pick?

The 19 leads our Glock builder by a wide margin. Complete Glocks in builds include used, police trade in, Blue Label and Taran Tactical custom guns. They leave out a Fusion clone listed under the Glock brand, the same way our chassis guide counts.

Search tells a flatter story. Over three months of site search this summer, the 17 and the 19 drew almost exactly the same interest, counting G17 and G19 shorthand. About one Glock search in ten mentioned Gen6. The only Glock model search that came back empty was "Glock 19 gen6".

Did Gen6 or the V series change the sizes?

No lengths or heights changed. Glock lists the V models at Gen5 dimensions, and the V changes target switch conversion kits, per Pew Pew Tactical.

Gen6 keeps every Gen5 length and height on the 17, 19 and 45. Glock lists the Gen6 19 and 45 at 1.35 inches wide, a hundredth wider, about an ounce lighter, and with trigger reach cut to 2.68 inches.

How we built this chart

Every dimension and weight on this page comes from Glock's own US spec pages, one per model, and the drawings use the same numbers. Builder shares come from complete Glocks added in our Glock builder, and prices on the cards come live from the stores we track.

One email when we change the picks. Nothing else.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the smallest Glock?

The Glock 42 in .380 ACP: 5.94 inches long, 4.13 tall, 0.98 wide and 13.76 ounces with an empty magazine. The smallest 9mm Glock is the 43, at 6.26 by 4.25 inches and 1.06 wide.

What is the biggest Glock?

By length, the long slides. The Gen3 24 runs 9.57 inches and the Gen5 17L 9.45. By weight, the 10mm Glock 40 is the heaviest at 35.45 ounces with an empty magazine. The large frame 20 and 21 are the widest at 1.38 inches.

How much does a Glock weigh?

From 13.76 ounces for a Glock 42 to 35.45 for a Glock 40, with an empty magazine. A Glock 19 Gen6 weighs 22.58 ounces empty and 29.10 with a loaded 15 round magazine. Add about 0.43 ounces for a chambered round, plus whatever your optic and light weigh.

What are the Glock sizes from smallest to largest?

Slimline (42, 43, 43X, 48), subcompact (26, 27), compact (19, 23, 44), crossover (45, 19X), full size (17, 22, 47), large frame (20, 21, and the short 29 and 30), and long slide (34, 35, 17L, 40, 41). The 48 is slim but as long and tall as a 19.

What do Glock model numbers mean?

They roughly follow the order Glock introduced its models, so the number tells you nothing about size. A 26 is smaller than a 19, and a 45 is bigger than a 48. Sort by frame family instead: slimline, subcompact, compact, crossover, full size, large frame and long slide. Within a family, the models differ by caliber: the 19 is 9mm, the 23 is .40 S&W and the 32 is .357 SIG, all on nearly the same 7.28 inch footprint.

Is the Glock 48 the same size as a Glock 19?

In length and height, yes. Glock lists both at 7.28 by 5.04 inches with a 6.85 inch slide. A Glock 48 MOS is 0.24 inches thinner than a Glock 19 V and 3.03 ounces lighter with an empty magazine, and it takes its own slimline magazines.

How much smaller is a Glock 26 than a Glock 19?

The 26 is 0.86 inches shorter and 0.87 inches shorter in the grip, but only 0.04 inches thinner. It holds 10 rounds flush and takes Glock 19 and 17 magazines as spares.

Which Glock models share magazines?

Within a caliber, the double stack models share one magazine family, and a longer magazine works in a shorter grip. The 9mm 17, 19, 26, 34, 45, 19X and 47 all take 17 round magazines. The 43X and 48 share their own slimline magazines. The 43 and 42 each take their own. The 20 and 21 use large frame magazines in their own calibers.

Did Gen6 or the V series change Glock dimensions?

No lengths or heights changed. The V models keep Gen5 dimensions. Gen6 17s, 19s and 45s keep Gen5 lengths and heights, list about an ounce lighter, and cut trigger reach from 2.76 to 2.68 inches.
