Rattle Can Asiimov: the CS2 Skin on a Real AR-15, AK-47 and Glock

Asiimov is the white, black and orange sci fi skin from CS:GO, now in CS2, best known on the AWP. Coridium designed it in 2013 and named it after Isaac Asimov. Here it is painted with real spray can colors on 12 real guns. Pick yours to open it in the planner, then reroll the layout or paint over it by hand.

Quick answer

  • The Asiimov skin comes from CS2.
  • It takes 3 spray cans: Flat White, Black, Gloss Pumpkin Orange.
  • Spray it light to dark: Flat White first, Gloss Pumpkin Orange last.

Where the Asiimov skin comes from

Coridium uploaded the Asiimov designs to the Steam Workshop in November 2013 as a nod to sci fi movies, games and books. The name honors the writer Isaac Asimov.

Valve added the M4A4 Asiimov in the Winter Offensive case on 18 December 2013 and the AWP Asiimov in the Operation Phoenix case on 20 February 2014. The P90, P250 and AK-47 got their own versions later.

The AWP and M4A4 versions never come in Factory New or Minimal Wear. Heavily worn AWPs turn the scope fully black, a look players call the Blackiimov.

In October 2026 a Field-Tested AWP Asiimov listed around $124 on the Steam Market and an M4A4 around $231. Painting one on a real AR-15 or AK costs about $20 in cans.

Painting an Asiimov on a real gun

Asiimov is flat panels, and we think it's the easiest skin to copy with tape. Spray Krylon Flat White over white primer, mask the white areas with sharp angled cuts, then spray black.

Mask again and add Gloss Pumpkin Orange on a few panels and edges. Keep the orange small. The skin is mostly white.

We'd do Asiimov if you want the skin people recognize from across a room. You only need good tape and patience.

How to spray Asiimov on a gun

  1. 1. Strip it down

On an AR pull the bolt carrier group and split the upper and lower. On an AK take off the dust cover and bolt carrier. On a Glock take the slide off. Remove the optic or plan to tape it.

  2. 2. Degrease everything

Wipe every outside surface with acetone or isopropyl alcohol. Paint will not hold over gun oil.

  3. 3. Mask what moves

Plug the chamber and muzzle, tape the ejection port, magazine well, trigger and safety, and cover the optic lenses.

  4. 4. Base coat in white

Two light coats over the whole gun, 8 to 12 inches away, 10 minutes apart.

  5. 5. Black through a dazzle stencil

Lay a dazzle stencil sheet on the gun and spray black through it.

  6. 6. Pumpkin orange through a dazzle stencil

Lay a dazzle stencil sheet on the gun and spray pumpkin orange through it.

  7. 7. Let it cure

Handle it after an hour but give it a full day before it goes in a case, and a few days before hard use.
