Why Barnes

Barnes makes solid copper bullets and loaded ammo in Mona, Utah. The X Bullet came out in 1989 as the first all copper bullet, and the TSX followed in 2003.

Copper holds together on impact instead of breaking apart, so the bullet keeps penetrating. The line runs TSX, TTSX, LRX and TAC-TX bullets, plus VOR-TX hunting loads and Defense ammo.

These cost more than plain lead core ammo, so they're for hunting, not range days. We'd run Barnes in an AR where lead free is the rule, or when you need deep penetration on game.

  • Barnes came out with the X Bullet in 1989, the first all copper bullet, and the TSX line grew from it.
