Shilen is an old name in precision barrels, big with benchrest shooters. It starts from 1.25 inch steel, air gauges every bore to 50 millionths of an inch and hand laps its stainless barrels.
The AR-15 barrels are the interesting part. Each one is numbered to its own bolt and chambered to that bolt's headspace, and gas block shanks are held to plus or minus .001.
Calibers include .223 Wylde, .223 Match, .204 Ruger, 6 ARC, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC II and .300 Blackout. Lengths run 9 to 24 inches in contours like Heavy Varmint, Service Rifle, Mid Tactical and Carbine Tactical.
Prices run about $500 to $680, and the gas block and tube are sold separately. Most options are 20 to 24 inches, so it suits a precision or varmint rifle more than a light carbine.
