Why Speer
Vernon Speer started making bullets for reloaders in 1943, and Speer still builds in Lewiston, Idaho. It's now part of The Kinetic Group with Federal, Remington, CCI and HEVI-Shot.
Gold Dot is the load to know. Its Uni-Cor process builds the jacket onto the core so they don't separate, and the hollow point is formed in two steps to control expansion. It's tested to FBI protocol in bare and barrier gel.
Gold Dot comes in 9mm, 9mm +P, .380, .45 Auto, .357 Magnum, 10mm and .30 Super Carry, plus Short Barrel loads for small pistols. Lawman covers training, and Speer sells component bullets for reloaders.
We'd carry Gold Dot, with the Short Barrel version in a small gun, and train with Lawman.
- Gold Dot uses the Uni-Cor process, which plates the jacket onto the core so the two stay together.
