Why Adams Arms
Adams Arms builds piston driven AR-15 and AR-10 guns in the USA. A short stroke piston does the work instead of piping gas into the receiver.
Gas from the barrel port drives the piston inside a sleeve, which pushes the bolt carrier back. Carbon and heat stay forward, so the bolt and receiver run cleaner and cooler. Gas is adjustable, which helps when you add a suppressor.
You can buy complete rifles in the P1, P2 and P3 lines, a piston upper, or a kit that converts the gas impingement upper you already have. The P2 uses a Rave 140 trigger and the P3 gets a Proof Research carbon fiber barrel.
The piston parts are Adams' own, so replacements come from Adams rather than any parts bin. Piston system parts bought after January 1, 2025 carry a lifetime warranty against defects.
We'd go Adams if you want a cleaner running AR or shoot suppressed a lot. If you want a rifle that takes any standard part, stay with direct impingement.
