Why Modtac
MODTAC is a veteran owned shop making carbon fiber suppressor shields. They keep your hand off a hot can and cut the mirage that blurs your scope.
The U-RAC is a spun carbon fiber tube on an aluminum coupler that QD mounts to your top rail on AR-15, AR-10, HK416 and MCX or MPX. Tubes run 5 to 9.5 inches, and the third gen mount can't be over or under torqued.
The U-RAC XL fits cans up to 1.9 inches across and floats on an air gap so less heat reaches the shield. A Unity FUSION folding sight version is available.
At about $330 to $470 it costs as much as a decent optic, and it only fits rifles with a continuous top rail. We'd buy one if you shoot suppressed a lot and run a magnified scope.
- The U-RAC is a spun carbon fiber tube on an aluminum coupler that QD mounts to the top Picatinny rail on AR-15, AR-10, HK416 and MCX/MPX.
- The U-RAC XL fits cans up to 1.900 inches (48 mm) and floats with an air gap to cut heat transfer and mirage.
- The third gen U-RAC has an internal system so you can't over or under torque the shield.
